Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist,
Consultant Psychiatrist

I am a specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry and in general psychiatry and am fully trained and qualified Medical Doctor. I am accredited and registered as a specialist with the General Medical Council (GMC number 7788726).

I’m a Royal College of Psychiatry Specialist Associate. After completing my initial medical degree in Belgium (Bachelor of medicine and Bachelor of Surgery-Doctor of medicine, surgery and childbirth) at the Catholic University of Louvain (UCL), I completed a post-graduate specialist training in the speciality of general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry (5 years). I also completed a post-graduate training in family therapy (4 years). I’m a member of the European Family Therapy Association (EFTA) since 2002. I also trained in on Esther Bick’s infant observation method.

During my years in Belgium, I worked in private practice and in different units in hospitals. I was Consultant for the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Unit at CHR Citadelle, Liège, Belgium (Public Health Service), and Founder and Manager of an Outpatient Unit « Cognition and Development. ».

I also worked as a Clinical Supervisor for Multidisciplinary Teams working in the field of Child neglect and abuse and Medical Director of a multidisciplinary team for children with severe learning difficulties (school and rehabilitation center), “Les Blés d’Or”, in Brussels.

I was born in Belgium and I now live in London, having taken up a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist post within the NHS.
I have a multilingual background speaking French as a first language and English fluently. I understand questions about the adjustment difficulties that families may encounter while settling within a new culture. I also enjoy using mixed cultural and languages background as an opportunity to adapt and thrive.

I have dedicated my career to clinical work and I enjoy assessing and helping children, adolescents, adults and their family. I write poetry, tales and novels as well. I guess being a writer takes part into helping patients finding a new way of telling and achieving their own story. Both storytelling and psychological achievement are in my opinion very connected to each other. More recently, I wrote a book on adolescent depression alongside with Dr Aurore Boulard, PhD, Clinical Psychologist with whom I am happily still collaborating through Child Connect Limited.

I have settled my private practice at 35 Great James Street in Bloomsbury, London where I share consulting rooms with valued colleagues. I am grateful having this opportunity of implementing here a specific and personal way of working with ASD, ADHD and/or gifted children, adolescents and adults. I have developed this method through years.

My patients usually refer to me as being kind, very connected to them and to their story, and helping them taking advantage of their own resources. We share a common effort in order to change issues into challenges. My patients feel encouraged building new ways upon the person they deeply are as well as being aware of their capacities, talents and strength.
